Each year at JBOYS HQ we get very excited to hold our annual gala fundraiser, and love exploring ways in which we can make the next one ‘our best yet’! Each year, we build upon our experiences and believe we have been able to succeed in that goal each year.
However this year in particular, we are absolutely certain it will not disappoint. Let us offer you a little taste of what’s in store…
Firstly, this year we have had a record number of ticket sales. In fact, we are at maximum capacity and tickets are now completely sold out! This kind of support has always been invaluable to the ongoing success of this charity and our ability to impact the lives of youth in our community. Thank you to everyone who has purchased tickets, we cannot wait to welcome you all on the night. There is nothing we enjoy more then a room full of amazing people sharing good food and good company.
Secondly, we are grateful to be able to bring back the renowned and exceptional chef’s Matt Golinski and Glen Barrett. Not only are these guys both wonderful people, but they bring with them a wealth of culinary talent and experience. We are looking forward to sharing this gourmet dining with the rest of our guests, and being able to fill our bellies with a delicious 3-course menu, which has been designed by Matt himself!
Thirdly, is the return of our incredible live entertainment. Honestly, what could be better then being able to sit down to eat, drink and share a night out with friends and colleagues while listening to some great live tunes. Our band “Seven Whales in Moscow” has been a regular feature at the JBOYS Gala Ball, and each year without fail, they manage to fill the dance floor and get our guests up dancing to some super fun tracks. This year will be no exception, so make sure to bring some comfortable dancing shoes!
Finally, JBOYS is proud to welcome a special guest to the Gala Ball this year. Attending as part of the ABC series “Back Roads”, Heather Ewart and her team will be spending some time filming in and around the community, with Biloela set to feature at some stage in the series.
Importantly for JBOYS, this will be an invaluable opportunity to shine a light on our cause, in an unprecedented way; both the work we have already done with the support of the Biloela community, but also the long road still in front of us towards meaningful and permanent change.
Bilo – we know we are incredibly blessed to have had your support since we first started in 2016. We are again hoping that the 2019 JBOYS Gala Ball can be our biggest and best yet, so we can show the rest of Australia how one small, outback community can be a catalyst for change throughout the rest of the country.
This year at the JBOYS Ball Biloela is on show to the whole of Australia! It will undoubtedly be a fantastic opportunity for the community to show the rest of the country, who we are and what we are about. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Thank you again for your support which is invaluable, and we cannot thank you enough for sharing this journey with us.
JBOYS Gala Ball, recently held on Saturday 13 October, proved to be another successful evening of fine dining and entertainment which will allow the charity to continue their work in 2019.
One of the highlights for this year was the gastronomical delight served up by renowned chefs Matt Golinski and Glen Barrett. With much hype leading up to the evening, guests were not disappointed by the culinary affair, with rave reviews heard well into the night from every corner of the room.
Further into the evening Rotary Club of Biloela and Callide Valley Car Club presented a $5,000 donation to JBOYS following the success of their recent Autofeste 2018. This was another collaborative effort from both Clubs and will make an incredible impact on the work of the charity. JBOYS President Barbra Bryant-Dunshea thanked Rotary and Callide Valley Car Club for their generosity. “This donation will go a long way in helping JBOYS send next years Year 12 cohort to attend driver education training”. Barbra added, “more importantly, what this donation represents, is the crucial community belief and support in what JBOYS is doing, and the benefit this education will have on the young people in our community”.
With the annual ball now complete, the JBOYS Board has it sights set on the future of JBOYS in 2019. This will focus on a significant announcement made on the evening by Barbara, where she sent out a call to the Biloela community to step into the JBOYS team, to ensure the JBOYS legacy continues to grow.
JBOYS Secretary, Alex Gillespie is confident in the positive impact the community involvement will create “JBOYS is a small community charity, and our success has largely been a result of the relentless hard work and commitment by Barbara and Tony. However in order for JBOYS to continue our valuable work, it is critical to have the involvement of the community, to grow and encourage our mission at a grassroots level. For this reason we look forward to exploring new relationships with community organisations and individuals, in addition to the amazing support we have already received.”
